Macmillan Academy has continued the recent trend of 5 A* - C GCSE's by matching last year's total of 92%. In the other Government required standards almost 70% of the entry achieved 5A* - C including English and Mathematics and two Science passes. Principal Ken Fraser recognises that at 30% above the National average this is a particularly significant achievement for all students.

He has paid a particular tribute to staff who have been able to remain single minded and focussed in encouraging learners to these results. While within such a figure very many students have done well, praise goes to a range of students who have done particularly well in recuring a wide range of A* passes; in excess of 10, the most successful being Matthew Naylor (14), Phillip Sidwell (13), Eleanor Downs (11) and Neil Dave (10).

Students who arrived at the Academy without the same expectation are to be congratulated for the way they have worked so enthusiastically to do really well. Laura Crook, Poppy Dawson, Ariful Islam, Ben Mahoney and Mark Squires are now looking forward to further success, one who hopes to fly even higher as a pilot.
