Sports Day took place on 14th July and was yet again a great success. Each tutor group worked extremely hard and tried to cover every event.

There were some outstanding performances and students who competed should be very proud of gaining points for their tutor group. The ethos of the day was all about working as a team and encouraging each other so there were lots of smiles, cheers and sunshine (hooray!) Congratulations to everyone.

Having arrived at Clairville Stadium, we all sat down in the stands with our tutors and waited for the first event which was the 100m so all the people who were going to take part in that event raced ahead to the starting line.
The crowd went wild as soon as the starter pistol was sounded. All the banners rose and swayed side to side. Teachers and students shouted and cheered in support of the competitors and as the day went on, more and more events came and went.
One of the final events of the day was the 1500m which provided great entertainment for the crowd. The positions changed throughout the race before an exciting and energetic battle to the finish line. With the amount of effort everyone put in, it seemed unfair to have only one winner!
At the end, the results were announced. DWS took the shield and had the pleasure of taking their trophy home. Everyone deserved to win because all of the competitors really tried their best!
