The Year 6 Macmillan Academy Experience took place on 25, 26 and 27 June 2008.

The Year 6 Macmillan Academy Experience took place on 25, 26 and 27 June 2008. Students from over 40 feeder Primary Schools were invited into the Academy to take part in a full programme of exciting and interesting activities to enable them to have a taste of Academy life in preparation for the start of Year 7 in September.

Students spent the three days getting to know Academy standards and expectations, meeting their tutor and other students in their Tutor Group and having a tour of the Academy site. They also participated in a “Lost “ Adventure in Science, took part in the Low Ropes Course and team building exercises in Outdoor Learning, building Jitterbugs in Design and Technology and involving themselves in team games in Physical Education. The Year 7 Mascot MACSTAR was introduced to the students and will follow them throughout Year 7. The students also had the opportunity to take part in a Year 6 Disco on Thursday night while their parents attended the induction meeting.

It was a fantastic experience for both the students and staff alike and the Year 6 students left the Academy with a great deal of excitement and anticipation about starting Macmillan Academy in September.
