The annual 'Summer Concert' took place on 10th June and provided a great evening of entertainment, showcasing the musical talents of a large number of Macmillan students.

The annual 'Summer Concert' took place on 10th June and provided a great evening of entertainment, showcasing the musical talents of a large number of Macmillan students.
The programme was wide and varied, including contributions from all 7 enrichments groups as well as individual performances from piano soloists Elliot Lam (Y8) and Michael Turley (Y11).

The concert began with the National Anthem performed by the Academy’s band and choir, followed with a ‘My Fair Lady’ medley, and two ‘Disney’ theme tunes. The Junior strings played music from the Caribbean, the Senior strings played some contemporary music, including the theme from ‘Austin Powers’ and then came the piano soloists. After the interval, the Junior band played, then the Guitar Ensemble and finally the Concert Band and Drum Ensemble. The last piece was a ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’ medley which proved very popular with the audience.

16 deserving students were presented with awards at the end of the evening by the Principal, Mr Fraser. Mr Allen, Head of Music was delighted by how successful the evening was, saying that it was the culmination of, “So many students working consistently throughout the whole year.” Ms Green, teacher of Sociology, was also very impressed with the performances, saying, “It never ceases to amaze me how many talented young people we have in this institution!”
