Many congratulations to Laura Crosby who is the winner of the British Society for the History of Science's, 'Designing Darwin' competition.  The competition was recently promoted at the Academy, on both a 'Fresh' broadcast and on this website.  Mrs Hart, the organiser, entered the best 5 of our entries to the national competition and Laura’s design was judged to be the best.

Laura will be awarded a prize of £100 and her winning entry will be on the BSHS website for all to see.  Winners will be officially announced on 5 July 2008 at the Three Societies Conference held at Keble College, Oxford University.

Founded in 1947, the BSHS is Britain's largest learned society devoted to the history of science, technology and medicine.  The competition was to celebrate the fact that Charles Darwin would be 200 years old next year and his famous work, 'Origins of the Species' is 150 years old.
