Kerry Moore and Hannah Taylor, both Year 13 A2 Spanish students, recently flew from Edinburgh to Madrid and stayed for a week in Segovia, where they had work-placements at local primary schools.  The exchange was organised through 'Acorn', a company that specialises in organising educational visits and arranging work-placements for students.

Kerry was placed at C.E.I.P Villalpando, a 3-12 school where she worked with a range of different aged children, whilst Hannah went to C.E.I.P Peñascal where she worked all week with 3 year old children.  Both students had the opportunity to work with speech therapists at the schools, who helped them improve their pronunciation.

The girls enjoyed their time in Spain and came away feeling much more confident about speaking Spanish and being fully understood.  They also enjoyed getting to know the children they worked with and seeing the differences between the British and Spanish primary education systems.

There were 40 British students in total from all over the country staying with Kerry and Hannah at the Corregidor Hotel, including 9 from the North-East and Kerry and Hannah enjoyed getting to know the other students and socialising with them in the evenings over dinner and whilst joining in with entertainments like bowling.
