Year 10 attended the third session of the Durham University STARs programme on 28th February.  The programme, consisting of five sessions run over three years, is designed  for gifted and talented students in Years 9, 10 and 11.  This session was all about gaining momentum and focused on the barriers that students face in achieving the goals that they are aiming for. It was very interactive and students designed a song/poem about the importance of gaining momentum. They also designed a board game about their journey through school and the barriers they face. The session ended up with a question and answer session run by Durham University students who encouraged the Year 10s to ask questions about university. Many students commented on how much they had enjoyed the sessions and their value. The first session (Year 9) was on making choices and the second (Year 10) on Critical Thinking.
