The Academy is proud to support '‘Fairtrade Fortnight' and you will currently find a variety of goodies available to purchase at break-times in the dining hall.  Staff also have the opportunity to buy raffle tickets from Mrs. Cripps or Mrs. Campbell for a chance to win a hamper of Fairtrade goodies!

By purchasing Fairtrade products, we can make a real difference to the lives of the producers.  Fairtrade’s vision is of a "world in which justice and sustainable development are at the heart of trade structures and practices so that everyone, through their work, can maintain a decent and dignified livelihood and develop their full potential".

Fairtrade is about better prices, decent working conditions, local sustainability, and fair terms of trade for farmers and workers in the developing world. By requiring companies to pay sustainable prices, Fairtrade addresses the injustices of conventional trade, which traditionally discriminates against the poorest, weakest producers. It enables them to improve their position and have more control over their lives.
