Well done to Year 10 Health and Social Care students, who have raised £225 for the Middlesbrough based children’s hospice, Zöe's Place, by selling 'Zöe's Bear' badges.  A certificate was presented to the girls involved to thank them for their hard work and valued help.  Zöe's Place provides care for babies who have life limiting or terminal illnesses, and describes itself as 'a home from home' for the children and families they help.

Zöe's Place receives limited amounts of Government funding and it costs around £450,000 a year to keep it running, so support from organizations like Macmillan is really important to help it to keep on providing its service to local families.

Liz Jacobs, Corporate Appeals Director, explains how special Zöe's Place is, "People expect a hospice to be a really sad place, but Zöe's Place has such a happy environment. It is full of children singing, clapping and painting and getting on with things. The children are wonderful and don't let anything get to them. It makes me feel pretty humble."

Zöe is the Greek word meaning 'gift of life'.
