Well done to  the Macmillan Academy swim team, who all competed in the ‘English School Swimming Championships’ on the 15th November 2007.

The girls competed against 26 schools from all over the region in a Freestyle and Individual Medley Relay event, which was held locally at the Neptune Centre in Middlesbrough.

Kimberley, Sally, Abigail, Megan and Catherine and Olivia are all exceptionally committed swimmers who compete regularly and train both morning and night with their local swimming teams Middlesborough ASC/ Stockton Aquatics but for others this was a new experience.  Miss Revely was impressed by how well the girls united as a team and praised them, saying, “They were a real credit to the Academy”.

These achievements are particularly significant as many of the girls mentioned are amongst the youngest competitors in their section, which means they will be able to compete in the same section next year (and in some cases for the next two years!)

All heats were very close with Macmillan Intermediate girls winning in the 4x 50m freestyle relay.

Times have now been submitted to ESSC and the fastest 16 in the country will go forward to the next round.  Keep training hard!

Below are the results:
