In only their second match the Macmillan U13 basketball team produced a sensational performance to beat King's Academy.  Strong from the first whistle Macmillan dominated with slick passing and solid defensive work.  In the first quarter attacking moves were masterminded by Ghafoor.  The opposition had no answer to his devastating change of pace and coolness around the hoop allowing him to net five baskets.

The second quarter saw the introduction of four year 7 debutants; Burns, Puggmur, Kirk and Lillystone.  With Macmillan ahead on points the players held their nerve and consolidated the lead with Puggmur producing some incredible dribbling which left his opponents bamboozled.  The half time buzzer rang with the match at 16 -12 in Macmillan’s favour.

In the third and fourth quarter Macmillan stretched their lead.  Ahmed and Khan scored their first baskets for Macmillan shooting calmly under pressure.  Thompson battled courageously and made sure Macmillan kept on the offence.  Meanwhile, Hussain thwarted most King's Academy attempts with solid blocking and aggressive rebounding.  Overall, the team produced a wonderful performance winning 28-20. All the team played with a great attitude and enjoyment for the game.
