Four new ‘plastics’ bins are coming to Macmillan to help us try to combat the amount of waste plastic we are producing. This will allow staff and students to recycle their plastic waste rather than binning it in a conventional bin where it is destined to end up in a landfill site.

These bins are already the talk of the staff-room as we found out when interviewing some of our Heads of Year. Mrs Maddison is obviously a keen recycler saying, ‘I like the idea of these bins. I like anything that encourages people to help save and take care of the planet… the bins will be very useful.’ She has clearly understood why we, as an eco-school, should be doing more to help our environment. She’s not alone either as Mrs Kipling, Head of Year 8, said, ‘It is an excellent idea because too much plastic is going to waste.’

If you recycle your plastic waste in these bins you will be helping Macmillan take care of our planet. The plastic you place in these bins will be recycled and not placed in already overcrowded landfill sites, so rather than being a lost resource they can be used over and over again.

So keep your eyes open for our new arrivals and bin away!
