The Year 9 residential to the Lake District included challenging activities such as gorge walking, canoeing, night time walks, archery, climbing and abseiling.

On Saturday students participated in a range of water activities and although the lake was a little cold, everyone was incredibly enthusiastic and a fantastic day was had by all. On Saturday evening the group ventured out for a night walk through Rydal caves; another amazing activity followed by a well-deserved hot chocolate and biscuits.

Sunday involved archery, climbing and abseiling. This enabled many students to face their fears climbing up rock faces and abseiling back down. The activity instructors take 60 plus groups every year on residentials like this one, and said Macmillan Academy students were the best group they had had in over four years; the manners, determination and behaviour from all of the students were outstanding and their teachers Miss Parkinson and Mrs Alderson are very proud of them.
