Today it is a pleasure to see Year 11 students and staff at Macmillan Academy celebrating GCSE results. These results are testament to the students' hard work as well as being a reflection of the dedication and commitment shown by staff at the academy. Some students have faced exceptionally challenging personal circumstances and they have shown grit and resilience throughout; they should be very proud of all that they have achieved.

Exceptional performances in the academy came from the following:

  • Ben Young an A*, 4 grade 9s and 4 grade 8s
  • Alex Butcher an A*, 3 grade 9s, 5 grade 8s, 1 grade 7
  • Bradley James 2A*s, 3 grade 9s, 1 grade 8 and 2 grade 7s
  • Caleb Walker a D*, 2 grade 9s, 4 grade 8s
  • Alice Kneeshaw 1 grade 9, 6 grade 8s and 2 grade 7s
  • Zaynib Ali 2 grade 9s, 3 grade 8s, 1 grade 7
  • Emily Williams 3 grade 9s, 2 grade 8s, 1 grade 7
  • Lucy Carter 2 grade 9s, 3 grade 8s and 4 grade 7s
  • Charlotte Williams 2 grade 9s, 2 grade 8s, 2 grade 7s
Additionally, the following students are amongst those who have made the most progress in their time at the academy: Lucy Furber, Casey Beals, Joel Shahverdi, Natasha Tsiquaye, Lumi Ahmetaj and Sarah Akhtar.

It is pleasing that the majority of students have decided to stay on to study at Post 16 in the academy. The academy wishes all students well with their futures whether that is in further study or in apprenticeships or employment.
