Staff and students at Macmillan Academy are today celebrating Post 16 results. These results are the culmination of two years of hard work by the students, as well as reflecting the dedication and commitment of Post 16 teachers and support staff in the academy.

Many students have been successful in reaching their first-choice destinations. Students are going to universities far and wide, from the local universities of Teesside, Newcastle and Durham to those further afield such as Keele, Liverpool and Chichester. Equally, students have opted to study a real range of courses including: midwifery, Japanese, international relations and politics and musical theatre. Alongside those students going to university, several students have gained excellent apprenticeships with companies who have worked closely with the academy, such as Morrisons and Accentura.

As ever, there were some exceptional individual results. Jake Lynas gained 2A* grades and 2As. He is now going to the University of Durham to study physics. Sannah Mahmood is off to study medicine at Keele having achieved 2A*s and an A grade. Aleena Jose is also going to study medicine, although she will be studying at the University of Newcastle. Cerys Hamilton and Alex Nixon both achieved an A* and 2 A grades. Cerys will study English at Leicester and Alex is going to Manchester to study chemical engineering.

Students following vocational courses also achieved impressive results with many students achieving the highest grades in their subject areas.
